Ready or Not - June 22, 2017

Are you ready? They're coming. No matter your age or status, as a follower of Christ, you will face battles. Sometimes these battles are unexpected and painful. Many times the battle will rage inside your heart and mind unknown to those around you. However they may come, don't be caught off guard. Instead, be ready to hold fast to the One who can help you endure.
Ephesians 6:10-11
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Jesus assured us that we would have trials, yet He did not leave it at that. Instead He said, "But take heart, because I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) What an encouragement to know that we can take our stand against the enemy, knowing that Christ has already insured his defeat. As we stand in Christ, we will find strength for the battle and victory in the end.
Life Lesson: Be ready as a follower of Jesus to endure trials, tribulations and battles.
Dear God,I praise You for all that You have done for me. As we step out to serve You, help us to be ready for the battles. May we look to You for strength and wisdom. Give us patience and help us to endure to the end. Teachuse in the midst of the battle to trust in You. In Jesus' Name,
Amen.

“Pleasure In The Midst of Our Infirmities” - August 17, 2017

by  Elder  Rev. Gregory L. Edmond 2 Corinthians 12:10 "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong." NKJV "I take pleasure in infirmities." This is a very odd statement from the Apostle Paul. How is it possible that we can take pleasure in the hardships and trials of life?  We can take pleasure in these things because when we are being attacked & our strength is disappearing, we can know that the power of God is about to break through in our lives. When we are weak, God is strong on our behalf. When we find ourselves at the end of ourselves, God is there to carry us the rest of the way. He is our hope when we get those bad diagnoses because we know that healing is coming in this life or the next. "God's Refreshing Comfort" - August 31, 2017

Edmond 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  NKJV Picture, if you will, a line of people. These people are from different backgrounds and families. Only one thing unites them and that is the fact that all are incredibly thirsty. Each of them longs for a cup of cold water. Now, imagine the first in this great line being given a case of ice cold water. With great anticipation, they grab a bottle and begin to quench their overpowering thirst. The dryness and pain that came with the thirst is quickly forgotten as they embrace the refreshing liquid.
