“How Sweet the Sound” - April 12, 2017

Galatians 1:11
"Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the Gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning."   NLT

"Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me."
Those words are some of the most famous and beautiful words of Christian history, yet it's not because of who wrote 'Amazing Grace' but rather because that lines ring with a very powerful, eternal truth. Grace is truly amazing. Consider the reality of God's grace.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but not I’m found.
T’was blind, but now I see.
Grace allows us to fly even though we have fallen in the past.
Grace allows us to be strong even though we have been weak in the past.
Grace allows us a bright future even though our past would condemn us.
Grace allows us to go out and try awesome things because we have a clean slate.
When we trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we begin living in the grace of God. We are made right with Him, not because of our works but because of His amazing grace.
The sad reality is that many Christians do not understand what grace means in their life. They continue to try and earn God's love and forgiveness, when the truth is that His love and forgiveness come by means of His grace.
In other words, Grace means we receive our blessings from God even though we don’t deserve them.
 Today, bask in the amazing grace of God and experience the freedom and love He offers.
Life Lesson: A Christian not understanding grace is like a prisoner who doesn't understand a pardon, freedom or amnesty. Both just sit in the cell, not enjoying their freedom.
Dear God,
Thank You for Your grace. Help me to truly understand what it means to be saved by grace. Help me to break free of any misunderstandings of works-based religion, and instead, live in the freedom You offer.

Amen.

“Pleasure In The Midst of Our Infirmities” - August 17, 2017

by  Elder  Rev. Gregory L. Edmond 2 Corinthians 12:10 "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong." NKJV "I take pleasure in infirmities." This is a very odd statement from the Apostle Paul. How is it possible that we can take pleasure in the hardships and trials of life?  We can take pleasure in these things because when we are being attacked & our strength is disappearing, we can know that the power of God is about to break through in our lives. When we are weak, God is strong on our behalf. When we find ourselves at the end of ourselves, God is there to carry us the rest of the way. He is our hope when we get those bad diagnoses because we know that healing is coming in this life or the next. Edmond 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  NKJV Picture, if you will, a line of people. These people are from different backgrounds and families. Only one thing unites them and that is the fact that all are incredibly thirsty. Each of them longs for a cup of cold water. Now, imagine the first in this great line being given a case of ice cold water. With great anticipation, they grab a bottle and begin to quench their overpowering thirst. The dryness and pain that came with the thirst is quickly forgotten as they embrace the refreshing liquid.
